My adventures in the woods, streams, rivers, fields, and lakes of Michigan

The scent of spring continued

During the last week, I have taken many flower photos that I didn’t include in my weekly journal, so here’s another photo dump of flower photos.

And for Easter Sunday, a dogwood, why? Does anyone know the religious story about the dogwood? It’s beautiful.

  • The Cross
Respresented by the four “petals” (bracts) of many dogwood flowers which form a cross.• The Nails
The “petals” often have marks on the outer edge said to be nail marks.

    • The Crown of Thorns
The centre of the flower can sometimes resemble a crown.

    • The Blood
The red dogwood berries are said to represent the blood of Christ.

Happy Easter to every one, He is risen.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Looks like the landscapers did a good job at your complex-beautiful trees. Hope you had a great Easter!

    • Thank you, and a Happy Easter to you as well. They did sink a lot of money into the landscaping here when the place was built. It galls me somewhat that the current manager has gone cheap, and many of the beautiful, and expensive, trees and bushes aren’t being cared for properly, and some have died as a result.

      • If and when he replaces them he’ll wish he had cared for the originals. especially the trees-they’re getting mighty expensive.

      • I know what you mean. I could do an entire post on how they have begun doing things the wrong way as far as landscaping and caring for what was already here since the new manager took over, but I will save that for an Email to corporate.
